👋 Welcome to Toku. Toku is your Employer of Record (EOR) in Bulgaria. We employ you through the appropriate local Toku entity and manage the compliance, HR, payroll, and benefits administration connected to your employment. Your day-to-day work, goals, and role direction continue to come from the organization you support.
Your employment at a glance
| Item | What it means for you |
|---|---|

| Payroll cycle | Monthly. Toku runs one payroll per month in Bulgaria. |
| Standard working week | 40 hours |
| Probation period | 6 months |

📄 Your signed employment agreement governs your individual terms, including pay, working hours, probation, notice, and any custom arrangements. Mandatory local law also applies. If this guide and your agreement appear different, contact Toku before relying on the summary.
Pay schedule and payroll changes
You are normally paid monthly, on the last business day of the month. The standard monthly cutoff for payroll changes is generally the 10th, but the exact cutoff can vary by country and organization. Check the Toku: 2026 and 2027 Payroll Calendar and Deadlines or contact Toku before relying on a specific date.
You will receive a payslip for each payroll cycle showing your gross pay, required deductions, and net pay. Keep your bank, tax, and personal information current in Toku, and notify us promptly if anything changes.
Your employment terms and probation
- Toku issues a compliant local employment agreement for every hire and registers it with the National Revenue Agency, as required within 3 days of signing.
- Indefinite-term contracts are the standard. Fixed-term contracts are permitted for up to three years, and part-time employment is recognized.
- Contracts are in Bulgarian, with bilingual versions common for international employers.
- Probation is 6 months under Toku's employment agreement, which is also the statutory maximum. During probation, either party may end the contract without notice or stated grounds.
Working hours and overtime
Your normal working hours are stated in your signed employment agreement and may vary by role, schedule, or applicable collective agreement. Toku does not expect routine overtime. Do not work overtime or additional hours unless your manager has approved them in advance. Any overtime or additional-hours treatment follows your signed agreement and mandatory local law.
Leave entitlements
| Leave | Entitlement | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| Annual leave | 20 working days minimum | Employer |
| Sick leave (days 1-3) | Up to 3 days per illness at 70% of gross salary | Employer |
| Sick leave (day 4 onward) | As certified by a physician, at 80% of insurable income | Social security (NSSI) |
| Maternity leave | 410 calendar days (starting 45 days before the due date) at 90% of average gross salary | Social security (NSSI) |

| Parental leave | 6 months per parent, until the child turns 8 | Unpaid |

Unused annual leave carries over but should generally be used within the following two calendar years, and any unused balance is paid out on termination. Bulgaria's generous maternity and paternity benefits are funded by social security, not by you.
ℹ️ Your employment agreement, Toku HRIS leave balance, and applicable local rules determine your exact entitlement. Contact Toku if the information shown in your account does not match your agreement or this guide.

Additional Toku benefits
In Bulgaria, Toku's standard supplemental benefit is Remote Health by SafetyWing. Review 🌍 Global Coverage: Remote Health by SafetyWing for current availability, coverage, eligibility, enrollment, and support information.
Stablecoin payroll and token grants
Where permitted by local law and enabled for your organization, Toku can support token grant administration and allow you to elect to receive a portion of your net pay in stablecoins. Availability depends on your country, your organization's program, and your individual compensation arrangements. These options are not guaranteed components of every employment package.
If stablecoin payroll is available to you, see Toku: Stablecoin Payroll Set Up. For token grant questions, use the Toku: Contact our Team for Support! to reach the Token Grant Administration team.
Annual tax documents
Your employment income certificate (служебна бележка under Article 45) is issued on request. Ask payroll@toku.com for the relevant tax year; Toku will arrange the certificate and upload it to Documents within the applicable statutory response period. This is a request-based document, so there is no automatic annual upload date. Employer reporting to the National Revenue Agency is separate from delivery of your certificate. See the NRA certificate form.
Leaving Toku: resigning
Giving notice
Send a formal resignation letter to Toku, your legal employer, by uploading it to your Toku Documents or emailing customer-success@toku.com. Notify your manager too, and follow your signed employment agreement's notice period and any local signature or delivery requirements. Toku will help confirm the employment end date and any additional formalities.
Documents and final payroll
You will receive formal offboarding/termination documentation through DocuSign, with a copy uploaded to Documents. It will explain the applicable departure terms and final-pay arrangements. Review it and contact Toku if anything is unclear. Toku does not send a separate personalized general offboarding email; watch for DocuSign and any required documents delivered separately by Toku or the local provider.
Country documents: You will receive a formal document confirming that employment has ended. The local employer also records the end of employment in the employment register; this administrative filing is separate from your offboarding document. See the Ministry of Labour's guidance.
Benefits when you leave
Benefits are managed by external carriers and providers. You may receive an email from each provider and/or see your coverage status updated in its portal or app. Confirm your exact coverage end date, dependent coverage, any continuation options, and relevant deadlines directly with the provider. Do not assume that coverage ends on your final working day or continues automatically.
For Remote Health coverage, check SafetyWing's communications or your member account. Review 🌍 Global Coverage: Remote Health by SafetyWing for your plan and contacts. Toku coordinates the employer-side offboarding; contact us if you need help resolving a missing or unclear provider update.
Your Toku account
You will retain access to your Toku account and employment documents after leaving. For help updating your email, resetting your password, or changing 2FA, email customer-success@toku.com.

Your exact entitlements may vary based on your work location, tenure, role, collective agreement, or individual terms.
