📘 For organization administrators and internationally-paid employees on Toku. Last updated July 23, 2026.
When paying teams across borders, currency conversions follow a clear, transparent process based on trusted market sources.
Before you start
- Toku uses two FX rate methods: one for initial contract setup and one for ongoing payroll.
- Rates come from a live market-data feed (XE). If your organization has a custom negotiated rate or a connected ERP integration, that rate is used instead, and every conversion is time-stamped and tracked for full auditability.
FX rates for employment contracts and offers
When you issue a compensation agreement in local currency (based on a base salary in USD or another currency), Toku converts the amount using the market exchange rate in effect on the date the agreement is finalized.
This locks the local-currency figure in your agreement, so it does not change on its own after the agreement is finalized.
Example: A $3,000 USD monthly salary converts to ₹249,750 INR using the market rate at the time (83.25 in this example).
FX rates for monthly payroll, bonuses, and stipends
For ongoing payments and one-time bonuses, Toku applies the market exchange rate at the time payroll is processed. This reflects current market value and ensures transparent, time-aligned payouts.
Because rates change day to day, your local-currency payout may vary between pay periods based on market movement. Example: A $2,000 USD monthly salary converts to $36,400 MXN using a market rate of 18.20.
The same spot-rate method applies to crypto and stablecoin payments.
FX rate reference
| Purpose | FX Method | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Offer letters and employment contracts | Market rate (XE, or org custom/ERP rate) | Fixed at agreement finalization; refresh on request |
| Monthly payroll and crypto | Market rate (XE, or org custom/ERP rate) | Updated when payroll is processed |
| Bonuses or stipends | Market rate (XE, or org custom/ERP rate) | Per payout date |
Rate refresh and adjustments
If your employment agreement has a fixed local salary based on FX, you can request a rate refresh - contact your Toku Customer Success team to review your options.
For inquiries about how a specific rate was calculated or to request a refresh, contact your Toku Customer Success team.
Good to know
- Toku sources live market rates from XE. Your organization's custom negotiated rate or connected ERP integration rate takes priority when configured, and CoinMarketCap is used for crypto and stablecoin pairs.
- All FX applications are time-stamped and tracked, so you have full visibility into how any conversion was calculated.
- Issuing an employment contract in a foreign currency (e.g., IDR or MXN) is possible; contact your Toku Customer Success team for setup and any associated fees.
