Administrators can add bonuses, stipends, overtime, and correction payments to team members' accounts in Toku.

Add bonuses, stipends, overtime, or correction payments to a team member's account.

Before you start

  • You need administrator access to your organization's account. If you're signed in but don't see the options below, sign out and back in, choosing Continue as ADMIN.
  • The team member must already be added to your organization.
  • Have ready: the payment amount; whether it is paid in a fiat currency or a token, and which one; the kind of payment (Bonus, Stipend, Correction Payment, Overtime, or Additional Final Pay); and the effective date.
  • Payroll cutoff is the 10th of each month for most countries. Requests submitted on or before the applicable cutoff are eligible for that month's payroll only once required review, approvals, and pre-funding are complete. Late requests move to the next eligible regular payroll cycle.
  • Payments are never processed immediately — they are always tied to the next eligible payroll cycle.
    • Need a payment sent sooner? Off-cycle payments start at an additional $49 per person.
  • Employee pre-funding: For EOR, PEO, and payroll-only employees, additional payments over $5,000 USD require pre-funding. Whenever pre-funding is required, including termination or severance payments, submit complete changes and payment details in Toku by the 10th. Toku reviews those submissions and sends invoices on the 11th or next business day. Full funds must be received and cleared by the 14th for that month's payroll consideration. Funding received after the 14th moves the additional payment to the next eligible regular payroll cycle. Earlier cycle cutoffs still apply. Contractor deadlines are separate. See Additional Compensation Changes Over $5,000: Prefunding Approval.

Add a bonus or one-time payment

  1. In the left-hand menu, click People. The People list opens, showing everyone in your organization - employees and contractors.

The Employment left-hand menu with People selected, and the People list showing everyone in the organization.

  1. Find the person you are paying - scroll the list, or use Search by name, email, or title — and click their name. Their profile opens on the Overview tab; scroll down to the Compensation section.

The employee profile page, open on the Overview tab, with the Compensation section and its Add button below Employment Details.

  1. In the Compensation section, click the Add button beside Change salary.

The Compensation section on an employee's profile, with the Add button beside Change salary at top right.

  1. Enter the payment amount in the Amount field using digits only (no commas or symbols). Example: 1500.

The Add Additional Compensation window with 1500 entered in the Amount field.

  1. Choose the Payment Type: Fiat currency for an ordinary currency payment, or Token to pay in a stablecoin. This is a different control from the Type field further down, which is what kind of payment it is - Bonus, Stipend and so on.

Payment Type set to Fiat currency. A Currency field follows, with an optional Paid in (token) field beside it.

  1. If you chose Token, the Currency field is replaced by a Token picker. Each option names the stablecoin and the network together - for example USDC on Polygon, USDT on Ethereum, USDG on Solana - so there is no separate network to set.

Payment Type set to Token: the Token list names the stablecoin and network as one choice.

  1. For a fiat payment, select the Currency dropdown and pick the currency from their employment contract. (If you chose Token above, you will have picked the token instead and there is no Currency field.)

The Currency dropdown open, listing currency codes to choose from.

  1. Select the Type dropdown and choose what kind of payment it is: Bonus, Stipend, Correction Payment, Overtime, or Additional Final Pay. Use Correction Payment when fixing an earlier payment error. This is separate from Payment Type above, which is about how it is denominated.

The Type field, set to Bonus. Its list offers Stipend, Bonus, Correction Payment, Overtime, and Additional Final Pay.

  1. Select the Schedule dropdown. Choose One-time for a single payment or Recurring for a repeating one. If you pick Recurring, a Frequency dropdown appears where you choose how often it repeats: Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually.

The Schedule field, set to One-time; the other choice is Recurring.

With Recurring selected, a Frequency field appears; its list offers Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually.

  1. Select Effective Date (required) - the date payroll pays it on - and pick it from the calendar. A future date means the entry is saved now but only becomes active on that day.

The Effective Date calendar open on a future month (December 2026).

  1. Click Add to save the payment.

The completed form — Amount, Payment Type, Currency, Type, Schedule, Effective Date, and an optional Note — with the Add button ready to save the payment.

  1. Confirm the new entry appears as a row in the Additional Compensation section (example: "Bonus · 1,500 USD"). If it has a future effective date, a yellow Scheduled tag indicates it's saved but not yet active.

The new payment appears as a row under Additional compensation: 'Bonus · 1,500 USD' with a yellow Scheduled tag. A confirmation, 'Additional compensation added', also appears briefly at the top right.

Good to know

  • If you see a red error message, fix the field it mentions and click Add again.
  • You can Edit or Remove an entry until the payroll cut-off for its effective month has passed; after that both buttons are disabled, and the ? icon beside them explains why (contact payroll@toku.com if it still needs changing). Editing a record after its amount has already been paid out does not reverse or reissue that payment. For a wrong past-paid amount, add a new Correction Payment entry for the difference and explain it in the Note field.
  • Every payroll cycle has a cutoff date. Payments entered after the cutoff are paid in the next cycle, not the current one.
  • Some organizations require approval before compensation changes apply. If your organization does, changes appear with a yellow notice reading "Changes pending approval" until the review is complete.
